Each year across Europe thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises go bankrupt waiting for their invoices to be paid. Portugal ranks one of the highest places in Europe in statements regarding overdue payments, which is not a reason to be proud. Portuguese companies are exposed to bankruptcy not because of their business inefficiency but because of dishonest contractors who, by exceeding payment deadlines, destabilize the financial liquidity. Debt enforcement with all available means remains the only option.
